ABOUT

Nutrition for human and environmental sustainability, from someone who has lived both sides of it.

Jessie Thomas has always loved reaching a mountain summit on her own two feet. For years she got paid to do it, first as a Lolo and Flathead Hotshot, then as a Missoula Smokejumper for eight seasons, jumping out of planes into some of the hardest country in the West. She has raced ultras, taught skiing, and coached Nordic and alpine athletes.

Fire taught her what a body can do and what the job takes back. Long seasons of smoke, bad sleep, and whatever food showed up on the line made one thing clear: the health of the human body over a lifespan is determined by what we eat and how we live. When she became a mom, she also learned that staying strong on less sleep and less margin takes a smarter approach, not a harder one.

Out of all that came Sustainable Wellness. Jessie trained as a health coach and nutritionist and started helping athletes use food to perform, recover, and last. The practice grew from there to include weekend warriors, working moms, wildland firefighters, and people rebuilding after illness or injury. Today she works as a health coach, personal trainer, private chef, and educator. The name still means what it says: food that regenerates people and the planet they live on.

“We are the agents of change in our internal ecosystems and in the world around us. We aren’t separate. It’s time to stack the deck in favor of both.”  Jessie Thomas
