WILDLAND

Nutrition and mental health in the wildland fire community. Watch the free recording.

WHAT’s IN THE RECORDING

  • Why this community carries particular mental and physical health vulnerabilities

  • Practical, tactical nutrition approaches that improve mental health, with no supplement pitch and no BS

  • Eating well on the line when the food provided is subpar, and rebuilding your gut in the off-season

  • The live Q&A from the original session

I’m Jessie Thomas. I fought fire as a Lolo and Flathead Hotshot and spent eight years as a Missoula Smokejumper. Today I’m a nutritionist in Missoula, and the fire community is still my community. I have seen firsthand what fire seasons take from people, and how often the preventable pieces, like nutrition, never make it into the conversation about suicide, addiction, depression, and anxiety in this line of work.

So I recorded a free two-hour webinar on exactly that: how nutrition and lifestyle shape mental health outcomes for firefighters and their families. There are no hidden agendas here. I’m not selling anything. I’m in the rare position of knowing both fire and nutrition, and this information belongs to the people who need it.
